Portland Classical Chinese Garden
This walled oasis occupies one entire city block in Portland's Old Town/Chinatown District. Sixty Chinese artisans spent months lending their talent and expertise to the elegant design of this garden. The final result: serpentine walkways, ponds, bridges, a tea house and a meticulous landscape of fantastic rock groupings, delicate trees, sculpted shrubs, lattice screens and pavilions.

Portland Art Museum
Masterpieces by Monet, Renoir and Picasso share space with Native American and Asian artwork and major traveling exhibits. The museum encompasses two buildings connected above ground by a sculpture garden and plaza; below ground by a subterranean passage that doubles as a gallery. The complex covers two full blocks in Portland's downtown Cultural District and also includes the NW Film Center, a 33,000-volume Art Study Center and Library.
Oregon Zoo
The Oregon Zoo is a conservation zoo that breeds endangered-species animals and strives to serve as a model for earth-friendly operations. The zoo's 64 acres (25.9 hectares) are home to animals from all corners of the world, including Asian elephants, Peruvian penguins and Arctic polar bears. The Oregon Zoo even recycles 100 percent of its herbivore manure into useable compost.
Portland Saturday Market
Portland Saturday Market is the largest continually operating outdoor arts and crafts market in the nation. Centered in Portland’s historic Old Town, the Market is one of the most popular shopping destinations for local handcrafted goods. Over 250 small businesses and individuals artists from across the NW region gather each week for the Saturday/Sunday event with live music and a plethora of exotic foods that will satisfy everyone’s appetite.
Japanese Garden in Washington Park
Regarded as the most authentic Japanese Garden outside Japan, this beautiful 5.5-acre oasis encompasses a waterfall and koi pond, a pavilion and five garden styles. Designed to take advantage of "borrowed scenery," the garden showcases the tall Douglas firs of the surrounding Washington Park and provides views of downtown Portland, the Willamette River and the nearby mountains.

Adventure in the Portland area will take you outdoors. Within the city limits, visitors can hike and bike in Forest Park, consisting of 70 miles of trails covering over 5,000 acres. Just a short drive east of Portland is the Columbia River Gorge and Mt. Hood. On your way to the Gorge, be sure to visit Multnomah Falls—Oregon’s highest at 620 feet. Along the Historic Columbia River Highway, there are numerous places to hike and view Oregon’s beauty. In the heart of the Columbia Gorge is the town of Hood River. Portland is host to many professional and minor league athletic teams. Year-round the sports enthusiast can find entertainment in this city.
